As part of its strategy to strengthen tourism entrepreneurship and extend the tourism season, Greece has approved 448 investment proposals for funding under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) 2021–2027.
The projects fall under the action “Enhancing the Establishment and Operation of New Small and Medium-Sized Tourism Enterprises” within the “Competitiveness” program and target the regions of Attica and the South Aegean.
According to an announcement by Alternate Minister of Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis, the approved applications represent a total public expenditure of 83.78 million euros. These approvals follow the completion of the evaluation process for proposals submitted in these two regions, which are classified as “Transition Regions” under the NSRF.
A total of 1,501 applications were evaluated from Attica and the South Aegean, with applicants seeking a combined 276.3 euros million in public funding. These submissions are part of a broader pool of 6,669 applications received under the action nationwide.
The goal of the initiative is to foster the creation of new very small, small, and medium-sized tourism enterprises that offer internationally competitive products and services. The program aims to enhance the quality of Greece’s tourism offering, create new jobs, and support sustainable growth in one of the country’s most vital economic sectors.
Approvals for investment proposals submitted from other regions of Greece under the same action are expected to be announced soon.
